Broker's Comments

This Fifer stands apart from others I have seen - She is an excellent example of a rare ketch rigged Miller Fifer. Built by James N Miller in 1958 at St Monans in Fife she was the first of the Miller Fifer Motorsailers to be built for the Olympia Boat Show so differs from the rest as she is Larch on sawn Oak (the others being Mahogany planking on Oak).

She has been owned and restored by a professional wooden boat builder since 2010 during which time he has had an all new wheelhouse rebuilt to the same design as the original but in far more durable Iroko (rather than Mahogany), new Iroko cockpit, new forward hatch, (laid teak with down light), new coachroof which has been glassed and repainted, all metalwork has been re-galvanised, teak deck repaired or replaced, and all outside trim and woodwork renewed with either Iroko or Oak.

Inside all the matresses are new and have been recovered and the cooker is only about a year old.

Overall I would say that Royal Fifer is in excellent condition and a lovely exaple of an original Miller Fifer Motorsailer. For anyone who likes classic wooden boats this is a MUST SEE as she can only really be appreciated by viewing.

Additionally, the owners will include the first 6 months mooring fees in the price of the boat.
