Archipelago Yachts partners with e-Motion to integrate hybrid technology
UK-based expedition yacht builder Archipelago Yachts has announced a new partnership with e-Motion Hybrid Systems. The builder says this partnership with the supplier will enhance the sustainability and efficiency of its offerings.
The partnership will combine Archipelago’s expedition vessels with e-Motion’s green technology. Integrating e-Motion’s hybrid propulsion systems into the builder’s yacht range is expected to significantly reduce fuel consumption and emissions while improving performance and comfort. The user-friendly interface is operated by a button that automatically switches from full diesel-propulsion to electric or diesel-electric.
Stephen Weatherley, founder of Archipelago Yachts, says:” We are excited to partner with e-Motion Hybrid Systems to offer our clients a range of yachts that offer exceptional performance and luxury and reduce their environmental impact. This partnership aligns perfectly with our vision of leading the yachting industry towards a more sustainable future.”
The builder offers this hybrid propulsion system across its entire range, from the Archipelago 40 to the newly launched Archipelago 80. The latter is the largest in the range, based on an award-winning hull design from the offshore wind industry. It has a fuel capacity of up to 20,000 litres and a payload capacity of 16 tonnes and is capable of speeds up to 30 knots.
“We are thrilled to be teaming up with Archipelago Yachts to help revolutionise their vessel’s capabilities and contribute towards a greener future,” says Michele Maggi, e-Motion Hybrid Systems. “We feel that Archipelago is the perfect addition to our growing network of companies dedicated to sustainable maritime solutions.”
The partnership announcement follows the news of Archipelago securing over 150 per cent of its funding target. The builder informed investors of its aim to be carbon neutral by 2040, including using all hybrid-powered vessels and the methanol-powered Archipelago zero.63.
