Matthew Walford

Italian boatbuilder Benetti has appointed Matthew Walford as area manager for Australia and New Zealand, effective since 1 February 2025.

Walford has more than 20 years of industry experience across new build, brokerage and refit. His career includes roles such as business development manager at aluminium shipbuilder Austal-Oceanfast Australia. He is also familiar with the Azimut-Benetti Group, having recently served as CEO of d’Albora Marine, where he oversaw the Australian sales business for Azimut Yachts.

Benetti sales director Daniela Petrozzi says: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Matthew Walford as area manager for Australia and New Zealand. He has notable relevant experience and regional market knowledge that is strategically valuable for the shipyard. We look forward to strengthening our service and client relationships in this important market.”

Walford adds: “I am honoured to have been appointed, and I look forward to contributing to the continuing growth story in this region.”

Founded in 1873, Benetti designs builds and sells yachts ranging from 34m to more than 100m. The shipyard’s fleet includes the Class, Oasis, B.Yond, B.Now, B.Century and Custom ranges. Part of the Azimut-Benetti Group, Benetti operates from its headquarters in Viareggio, its production unit in Livorno, and offices in Fort Lauderdale, Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore and London.
