Brunswick Corporation powers up Next Wave strategy with a record 2022 Miami Boat Show

Brunswick Corporation has been recognised by global business magazine Forbes as one of the ‘World’s Top Companies for Women 2024’. Forbes placed Brunswick as the 179th top-rated company for women in a list of 400, which was compiled from a survey of thousands of firms.

“Being named a top employer for women by Forbes is a tremendous honour for us,” says Jill Wrobel, chief human resources officer at Brunswick Corporation. “At Brunswick, we are proud to foster an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered. Our teams unite to create innovative programmes that strive to make boating more inclusive for everyone, especially as more women than ever take the helm. Our dedication to inclusivity is a major factor in why Brunswick is a preferred employer for women worldwide seeking rewarding careers with significant growth potential.”

The firm recently announced several changes to its organisational structure and senior leadership team, including the appointment of Aine Denari as executive vice president.

Brunswick says women represent an increasing share of its workforce, including half of its division presidents. The American corporation, which has around 18,500 employees worldwide, says it supports women’s career development through its Women on the Water employee resource group, which focuses on attracting, retaining and developing female talent and fostering a sense of community for women in the company.

The World’s Top Companies for Women 2024 list includes multinational corporations evaluated by around 100,000 women across 37 countries, based on over 750,000 data points collected in independent surveys. The final listing was derived from three aggregate scores:

  • Employer brand score: Women rated their employers on gender-related topics, their overall satisfaction, and their willingness to recommend their employer.
  • Public opinion score: A survey assessed how women perceive companies regarding gender equality.
  • Leadership score: Research identified the presence of female CEOs and the proportion of board and executive positions held by women.

The news comes a week after Brunswick confirmed its sales were down 20.1 per cent in Q3 following ‘below expectations’ second-quarter results, reflecting an overall downward trend for the industry this year.

Brunswick is often rated highly in lists of workplaces. Recent accolades include being named in Time magazine’s ‘World’s Best Companies 2024’ list; and being named among Newsweek‘s ‘America’s greatest workplaces for diversity’ in 2024.
