CMC Marine, a specialist in electrically operated stabilisation systems, announced several developments at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival as part of its three-year, €10m investment plan. 

The company revealed a strategic partnership with Dometic, combining CMC Marine’s stabiliser technology with Dometic’s Optimus steering system. This collaboration aims to enhance comfort, manoeuvrability, and safety for yachts between 40 and 155 feet. The integration has been successfully tested at CMC Marine’s development centre in Pisa and at a major OEM shipyard. 

Alessandro Cappiello, president of CMC Marine, expressed optimism about the partnership, highlighting the potential for improved customer experience through the synergy of their technologies: “We’re glad to integrate Dometic’s excellent steering with our fins and Argo control, allowing our common customers to get even more from the systems working together.”

The president of the Dometic Marine Segment, Eric Fetchko, emphasised that this collaboration demonstrates the benefits of combining expertise from two industry leaders: “By combining our engineering and manufacturing expertise, we can enhance vessel ride and handling for yacht owners worldwide.”

In another notable move, CMC Marine announced the integration of its stabilisation systems with Raymarine Axiom chart plotters. This integration, facilitated by the DALI (Display, Assistance, Logging Interface), allows users to monitor fin movements, select operating models and access system information directly from their Raymarine Axiom displays. For yachts equipped with CMC Marine’s Directa steering system, rudder position management is also included. 

CMC Marine also unveiled the STAB50, the largest stabilisation system in its Waveless line. This new model is designed for high performance and easy installation in compact spaces, catering to boat owners seeking practical and versatile stabilisation solutions. 

The company introduced an innovative fin design developed by its Milan R&D office and produced at the new Salerno facility. This new design reportedly improves zero-speed performance by up to 20 per cent without compromising underway performance. 

These announcements represent the initial outcomes of CMC Marine’s ambitious development project, launched less than a year ago at METSTRADE 2023. The company plans to reveal more innovations in the coming months, including new solutions for its thruster propeller range.
