D-Marin moves into top 24% of leisure firms for sustainability
Marine operator D-Marin has been recognised for its increasing commitment to sustainability, receiving the silver award for a consecutive year by EcoVadis.
This achievement marks a significant improvement from D-Marin’s position in 2022, elevating D-Marin to the top 24 per cent within the leisure industry worldwide, up from 30 per cent.
D-Marin was awarded the silver rating following a strict assessment of its sustainability practices and commitments across 21 indicators in four areas: environment, labour and human rights, business ethics, and sustainable procurement.
D-Marin says it maintains a robust environmental social governance (ESG) strategy, driven by its mission to establish ‘sustainable marinas for todays and future generations’.
Areti Priovolou, health, safety and environmental officer at D-Marin, says: “We are very proud to be rated in the top 24 per cent of the global leisure industry. The standard is set higher by EcoVadis each year and we welcome the challenge this brings. Sustainability is no longer a mere concept; it is an imperative and a responsibility to ensure a sustainable world, both environmentally and ethically, for our teams, suppliers, and the communities in which we operate. We remain steadfast in our pursuit of these fundamental principles.”
Christina Samoulada, human resources director at D-Marin, says: “The improvement in our Ecovadis rating is a testament to the collective efforts of our marina teams and ongoing commitment to sustainability. Aligning to make operations more sustainable is not only the right thing to do but is ingrained in our corporate DNA. We continually strive for improvement, demonstrating our commitment to environmental responsibility and community wellbeing.”
D-Marin was founded in 2003 and is based in Greece — the company operates 23 marinas across in Greece, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Montenegro, Croatia, Italy, Spain and Malta.
