ExploMar’s electric outboards aim for global presence
ExploMar, based in Shanghai, says it has marked a significant milestone. It is the first company in the world to integrate axial flux motors, steer-by-wire technology, and actively develop high-performance gear reducers for electric outboards. It’s been busy delivering its systems to Italy, the Netherlands, and China.
CEO Alex Dong says these orders confirm the effectiveness of its R&D design and signifies a major achievement in electrifying middle-to-high horsepower electric outboard systems globally. The company’s next objective is to broaden its global market presence (it’ll be at METSTRADE 662, Hall 1) and its distribution areas now encompass over ten countries, including Italy, Spain, Turkey, Singapore, Indonesia, and Nigeria.
Alongside its delivery of 300hp and 600hp (twin 300hp) electric outboard systems, the manufacturer is also providing on-site services to its users.
“We place great focus on the trust of our users, so our professional after-sales team provides on-site assistance with installation and product training, ensuring that users have a complete understanding of the features of the electric outboard system,” says after-sales director, Ayden Du.

ExploMar’s 600 horsepower electric outboard system is equipped with two Wave 300 electric outboards and two Hedb 125 batteries, achieving a total power output of 600 horsepower and a battery capacity of 250 kWh. This was delivered to Italy’s AS Labruna s.r.l. (see below).
Meanwhile, Dutch shipyard Xtenders took delivery of a Wave 300 electric outboard system. That achieves a power output of 300 horsepower while significantly reducing weight, says its manufacturers. In testing on a 6.3-metre carbon fibre RIB, it reached a maximum speed of 44 knots.
The same system as above went to Wuhan East Lake scenic area in China where its performance meets the operational needs of the inland lake environment (ecological protection). According to ExploMar’s testing, the 9-metre boat accelerate to 60 km/h in under 25 seconds when fully loaded (13 passengers) and has a top speed of 35 knots.
