Foiling Organization sets up Italian headquarters
The Foiling Organization, the global association of the foiling industry and its professionals, is establishing its headquarters in Genoa, Italy.
This initiative marks the first step of a strategic partnership with the Municipality of Genoa, which will be detailed during an upcoming press presentation at Palazzo Tursi, the seat of the Genoa city council.
The organisation’s plans include hosting the world’s first Foiling Congress on 18 April 2024 in Genoa, bringing together association members and all those interested in joining: shipyards, component manufacturers, designers, universities and research facilities, professional sailing teams, yacht clubs, associations, events and institutions.
The congress will culminate in the awards gala of the seventh edition of the Foiling Awards, which since 2014 have honoured personalities and significant projects in the world of foiling.
After the Foiling Awards in 2023, METSTRADE confirmed a partnership with The Foiling Organization to bring a new Foiling Technology Pavilion (FTP) to the trade show in Amsterdam. The new pavilion in hall 7 showcased manufacturers of foiling hardware and technology.

The Foiling Organization says its commitment in Genoa will extend to a series of initiatives ranging from professional training to technological development for the nautical industry and educational programs for schools and public exhibitions.
The organisation’s headquarters will be established at the Blue District in Porto Antico, where workshops and conferences will be organised in addition to ongoing activities.
“The foiling industry is growing rapidly and will play a central role in the blue economy so relevant for our City,” says the municipal councillor Francesco Maresca. “Therefore, it will be a pleasure for us to host the activities and events of The Foiling Organization, which has what it takes to do a great job.”
Luca Rizzotti, founder of The Foiling Organization, adds: “We aim to create a global foiling technological cluster, attracting companies and experts inspired by our same enthusiasm. The municipality offers us excellent perspectives. Especially in the beginning, we will need significant support from forward-thinking entities willing to invest with us in future technology.”
