Italy to host new marine innovation expo in 2025
The first MIT.EQ (Marine Innovation Technology Equipment Expo) will take place at the Rimini Exhibition Centre in Italy from 5 to 7 March 2025. The new international trade fair, organised by the Italian Exhibition Group, will focus on sustainable development and technological innovation in the marine industry.
Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) says MIT.EQ has been developed in response to demand within the market for a platform where shipyards, technology companies, and providers of accessories and services to the marine industry can come together and highlight their growing commitment to eco-technological advancements, particularly in sustainability.
According to Marco Cecchini, IEG’s business development manager for Italy and EU: “The marine industry is a strategic sector for Italy, and we believe there is room for a new vertical event dedicated to the entire industry. MIT.EQ will not only be a B2B trade fair but also a speaking platform to elevate the national and international debate on sustainable innovation in the sector.”
The event will feature a technical-scientific programme, focusing on sustainable innovation in the marine industry. It is designed as a venue for professionals to meet, exchange ideas, and explore new developments in the field. The first edition of MIT.EQ will be held in conjunction with KEY – The Energy Transition Expo, which is focused on energy efficiency and renewable technologies in the Mediterranean region.
The 2024 edition of KEY saw 53,157 attendees from 107 countries, with 837 exhibitors, 33 per cent of whom were from outside Italy. The event facilitated over 2,400 B2B meetings and covered an exhibition space of 78,516 square metres. Additionally, the GreenTech Insight platform recorded 391,000 views during the event.

“In a historical phase of the national and international boating industry characterised by a growing market demand and challenges such as sustainability and safety, it becomes strategic to foster networking initiatives within the entire production and service chain of the sector,” says Lorenzo Pollicardo, technical director of SYBAss (Superyacht Builders Association). “MIT.EQ is characterised by fostering a constructive meeting between construction sites and suppliers aimed at consolidating a solid partnership between supplier and client. Discussions will alternate between business proposals and the exchange of experiences on the best solutions adopted by the shipbuilding and yachting industry as a whole.
“Sustainability will play a primary role in the debate and in commercial offers with the aim of meeting the international challenges on decarbonisation and establishing the yachting industry as a niche leader in the international maritime community.”
The expo will host companies from a range of sectors, including supply and subcontracting in boat building, supplies for interiors, furnishings, installations, and materials, as well as supplies for ports and marinas. Other categories include safety and rescue equipment, machinery, propulsion, plant and accessories, plus technical clothing, accessories and marine electronics.
