Lalizas UK opens new offices and warehouse in Portsmouth
Lalizas, which manufactures lifesaving equipment such as lifejackets, life rafts, immersion suits, MOB systems and breathing apparatus, has moved its UK operations into newly acquired offices and a warehouse in Portsmouth.
The new facility, which spans approximately 1,500 sq. m, is located in the south of England, a hub of the UK maritime market.
As part of the Greece-based Lalizas Group, the UK branch offers safety solutions for commercial, leisure and military marine markets using Lalizas lifesaving and firefighting equipment.
These offerings include products of manufacturers that are also part of the Lalizas Group, such as Arimar liferafts and inflatable boats, Nuova Rade plastic equipment for marine use, Ocean fenders, Max Power thrusters and Lofrans’ windlasses. In addition, Lalizas UK is the exclusive local distributor for ACR Electronics and Pains Wessex marine distress signals.
“Previously Lalizas UK was in a rented office space with another company providing third-party logistics and renting warehouse space,” Philip Kleinot, country manager of Lalizas UK, tells MIN.
“Being in our own warehouse gives Lalizas UK the potential to control costs and give a more tailored customer service. Essentially now being in control of its own destiny.
“The Lalizas Group, with its logistics centres and manufacturing sites in several countries, over the years has developed bespoke logistic/warehouse systems that give the group a performance above its size and has been a key to the group’s success in the last decade.
“The new facility allows Lalizas UK to implement this in the UK and follow in the path of other Lalizas’ logistics centres.”
Additionally, the offices are state-of-the-art working spaces with the additional advantage of some showroom space and some extra space for product training in the future.
The firm says the new facility has an expanded range of in-stock products and a product showroom. Along with the new facility, the team is providing further training to existing staff for new responsibilities and systems. Lalizas says it is looking to expand its team both operationally and commercially to enhance customer service capabilities.
“Lalizas UK has been an essential part of the Lalizas Group for years,” says Stavros Lalizas, founder and chief executive of the group. “The acquisition of this new state-of-the-art facility underscores our long-term commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our esteemed UK clientele.”
The news comes after Philip Kleinot was appointed Lalizas’ UK country manager in February 2024.
