Latest development completed at The Boat Works, Australia
The Wharf – office premises at The Boat Works superyacht facility in Australia – is set to accommodate up to eight yachting businesses, and it is now welcoming Sydney-based yacht management team Chapman, and Geoff Lovett International Brokerage (representing Baglietto yachts from Italy) onto the site.
Brands including Selene Yachts, Horizon Yacht Australia, and Pantaenius Insurance are already in place.
The new additions will bolster the existing 100 on-site trades and marine businesses that operate from The Boat Works, which has undergone rapid expansion and development recently. The company recently told MIN that while most refit facilities in Australia market their businesses globally, it currently has enough work coming from the domestic market that it has not focused its sights on the international arena.
“We are thrilled to welcome some of the biggest names in yachting to The Wharf,” says Tony Longhurst, CEO and owner. “There are 2,000+ people on-site every day, and the place is buzzing with activity. We welcome hundreds of superyachts and boats of all sizes all year round. There’s no better facility in the southern hemisphere. Owners and captains feel at home here, and our partners benefit from the influx of vessels.”
Perry James, managing director at Geoff Lovett International (GLI), says the company is looking forward to moving in.
“Our office will showcase Baglietto, the brand and its range, and we will have several brokerage boats in the marina. The 40-metre Baglietto DOM 133, sold to a long time GLI customer earlier this year, will eventually be based at The Boat Works.
“We are looking forward to expanding GLI Yachts and Baglietto Australia at the world-class The Boat Works facility.”
Sydney’s longest established yacht management and all-inclusive yachting company Chapman will have its Gold Coast headquarters on the site, providing refit, antifouling, and detailing services.
“I have a great deal of respect and admiration for the ethos and attention to detail of the trades on site and The Boat Works’ management team,” says Cooper Chapman, founder & managing director.
“[It] is home to 100 on-site marine businesses who love what they do and do it well. They are committed to exceptional service and world-class quality. The Boat Works is the ideal pitstop for all vessels travelling south to north each year. We intend to raise the bar in refits and maintenance for all our clients.”
The Boat Works marketing manager, Charmaine Webb says: “Located at the entrance to the superyacht facility, these offices will overlook the next phase of major marine infrastructure, including the in-water sheds, an advancement set to revolutionise our marine industry.
“The owners’ commitment to reinvest in the The Boat Works’ facilities ensures continuous enhancement of our range of services. New sheds, new hardstand, and a sixth machine added to the fleet by the end of 2024; we are poised to accommodate even more boats, creating additional job opportunities.
“We look forward to welcoming our new partners and providing exceptional, world-class service for our customers.”
