MB92 expands footprint with Golfe-Juan shipyard takeover
The MB92 Group, a superyacht refit and repair player, has announced its control of the Golfe-Juan shipyard in the South of France. This move underlines the group’s ongoing strategic expansion plan, aiming to enhance its global presence.
The marina group, D-Marin, has recently acquired the 9,000 square metre shipyard facility, which can service yachts up to 45 metres. Earlier this year, D-Marin won the tender for the Camille Ryon marina in Golf Juan and is collaborating closely with MB92 to improve the refit and repair site.
MB92 Group plans to upgrade the shipyard facilities’ health, safety and environmental (HSE) protocols, and invest in modernisation efforts aligned with the group’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments.
The improvements will focus on water treatment, waste management and energy efficiency, aiming to create an environmentally responsible operation that ‘meets industry needs and community expectations’.
Rob Papworth, operations director at MB92 La Ciotat, says: “At Golfe-Juan, our goal is to deliver the same high level of quality and attention to detail that MB92 is known for throughout the Group, benefiting from our extensive experience in servicing yachts in the under-50-metre segment.
“We believe Golfe-Juan will quickly become a dynamic and attractive site for both regular clients and newcomers by providing a personalised, flexible boutique experience, as we do at our 300t Origins facility in La Ciotat. Through collaboration with local subcontractors and MB92 Group’s extensive network of partners, we will ensure that each refit adds real value, positioning Golfe-Juan as a key destination for superyacht refit services in the Mediterranean while furthering our commitment to sustainable practices.”
Operating in facilities located in La Ciotat, Barcelona, the Red Sea, and now Golf Juan, the MB92 Group has also recently entered into advanced negotiations to acquire GYG Limited, a firm specialising in superyacht painting and related services.
