MDL Marinas says 50 years of success is ‘underpinned by continuous investment’
Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, MDL Marinas says it is proud to continue to invest significantly across its marinas and products.
This year alone it will be investing £7m across its network of 18 UK marinas, with another £30m planned over the next five years.
“It’s essential for us to continue to invest in our infrastructure: dredging, pontoons, quay walls and berth holder facilities, because the quality of customers’ experience is important to us,” says Michael Glanville, managing director of MDL Marinas.
Torquay Marina will see over £1.3m invested in upgrading two of its largest pontoons, as well as installing a new visitors pontoon to support the popularity of the marina as a holiday destination for visiting yacht and motorboat owners.
“Our flagship Ocean Village Marina in the centre of Southampton is undergoing extensive essential improvement works to maintain its 5-star quality, replacing all of the south side marina pontoons while also introducing smart electricity metering technology across the marina.
“On Hayling Island, our Sparkes Marina has seen £500,000 invested in a new dry berthing facility, and further works to the quay walls, offering customers even more product choices.”
MDL says its marina teams take pride in the aesthetics of their marinas, and this pride extends to the quality of the facilities as well. Ocean Village Marina saw an upgrade to its south side toilet and showers earlier this year, and it’s planned that Penton Hook Marina’s west harbour facilities block will be updated this winter. At Torquay Marina, upgrades to the existing berth holder facilities will shortly be undertaken while at the same time a larger scheme for their full replacement is being prepared.
“We also try and give back to our customers too with our Otium Rewards Loyalty Programme, offering berth holders and visitors the chance to make real savings. Our customers are encouraged to check their points balance in preparation for their winter lift out and upcoming renewal, as Otium offers great direct savings for berth holders on all of MDL’s products,” adds Glanville.
“Whether visible or not, large or small, in money or time, all our investment is made with our customers in mind, so they can enjoy the best experience possible. This has been our ethos over the last 50 years and will help continue to drive our success for the next 50.”
Earlier this year (September 2023), MDL Marinas also installed a new system of solar panels at its Cobb’s Quay Marina in Poole, Dorset, which its says supports its commitment to sustainability and further invests in its green infrastructure.
