Nanni partners with Arnaud Boissières for Vendée Globe 2024

Nanni has entered a new partnership with skipper Arnaud Boissières for the 2024 edition of the Vendée Globe. Boissières’ IMOCA vessel, La Mie Câline, is powered by a Nanni N4.38 engine.

Known as ‘Cali,’ Arnaud Boissières is an established figure in French sailing, beginning his career in the Arcachon Bay and later settling in Les Sables d’Olonne. He remains the only skipper to have completed four consecutive Vendée Globe races, showcasing his resilience and experience.

Nanni says its choice to support Boissières reflects a shared regional heritage and the alignment of values, with La Mie Câline fitted with Nanni’s N4.38 engine. The Nanni N4.38 is a 38-horsepower, compact marine engine engineered for reliability and low maintenance, designed primarily to serve as a generator during races.

For his fifth Vendée Globe, Boissières has Nanni as a technical partner, supporting his engine needs during the race. Nanni will also work with Boissières to reduce the carbon footprint of his IMOCA, contributing to future races with sustainable innovations.

This partnership is part of Nanni’s commitment to energy transition and aligns with Boissières’ long-term objectives in his racing career.

The Nanni team recently met with Boissières in the Vendée Globe village to discuss the IMOCA La Mie Câline and its technical specifications. A video interview detailing the collaboration and its implications for the future can be seen below.

Boissières is one of 25 sailors who have volunteered to take weather-marine measuring instruments onboard their IMOCA yachts during the Vendée Globe 2024.

The skippers will enable the collection and distribution of essential data to scientists in real time. Those scientists are looking to expand global knowledge of climate and the ocean, and seeking to improve operational weather forecasting services, particularly in the less frequented areas of the globe such as from the Big South, the remote Southern Ocean.
