Global Marine Business Advisors (GMBA), a group of 23 marine industry consultants that supports the marine industry across a variety of sectors, has appointed Melanie Symes and Falk Morgenstern to represent GMBA in Spain and Germany, respectively.
GMBA, which has representatives located on five continents and 17 countries, says the strategic appointments significantly enhance GMBA’s expertise in coastal nautical tourism and technical proficiency in the maritime economy.
Symes brings extensive experience in sustainable practices within the recreational marine sector. Her leadership at TransEurope Marinas and contributions to international collaborations, such as her recent involvement in ocean science initiatives, make her an invaluable addition to the team.
Morgenstern (pictured left) is a seasoned professional in the German maritime economy and has a background in managing companies within the Baltic sea resort. He also founded the Marina Network Association.
Veda Pretorius, GMBA chairperson, says: “We are confident that Melanie and Falk will continue the services offered by GMBA in Spain and Germany ensuring businesses in these countries and global clients have access to their valuable networks and information. With the growing demand for expertise in sustainable marine tourism additional knowledge and understanding of this sector is very valuable.”
Jean-Michel Gaigné, GMBA France, adds: “Falk Morgenstern’s transverse vision of our market is invaluable. Melanie’s active involvement in the marina industry and her valuable network of relationships among professionals make her a tremendous asset to GMBA.”
The new appointees expressed enthusiasm about joining GMBA.
Melanie Symes says: “I’m honoured to join GMBA as an advisor. Collaborating with such inspiring industry figures is a real privilege. I look forward to contributing to the boating industry alongside this distinguished group.”

GMBA now boasts six specialists in this field, helping their clients address berthing shortages plus environmental and marina management challenges.
