New Tecmar president after founder sells business to son
Thierry Lambot, the founder of French nautical equipment importer and distributor Tecmar, has sold the business to his son, Martin.
With the sale, Martin Lambot becomes the new Tecmar president as Thierry Lambot retires. Tecmar is a growing company with around thirty brands distributed and more than 3,500 customers. Its team of around 20 employees is based at the head offices in Sainte-Soulle and Antibes, France.
At the core of Martin’s corporate strategy is reinforcing Tecmar’s technical expertise, quality of customer service to meet tailor-made needs and relationships of proximity and trust with the supplier and customer partners.
The new director says he aims to reach half of the sales revenue with electricity and plumbing products within five years.
Martin also intends to strengthen Tecmar’s CSR policy with his brother Pierre-Philippe Dangaly. Their next project involves installing photovoltaic panels to supply the company’s premises with solar energy.
After studying international business, specialising in purchasing and innovation, Martin Lambot quickly moved towards the supply of high-value-added products, notably at Total, where he was in charge of sourcing electronic components for batteries.
Then, he joined Tecmar as a purchasing manager. For six years, he gradually expanded the scope of his activities: first with suppliers, then with customers, and finally in corporate management. He says that purchasing the company upon his father’s retirement presented itself as a logical continuation of this development.
After managing the French branch of the manufacturer Lewmar for 26 years, Thierry Lambot took on the new challenge of creating his own company and launched Tecmar in 2011 with his wife and two friends. Since then, the company has continued to develop, including opening an electricity department in 2012 and a plumbing department in 2018, a network of technical sales representatives located throughout France and opening new offices in Antibes.
“I will attach great importance to preserving the soul of Tecmar,” says Martin Lambot. “We have built a real relationship of trust with our customers by mobilising ourselves every day to provide them with tailor-made solutions. Even if I launch new projects, this will remain one of my priorities.”
Thierry Lambot adds: “My personal commitment to ensure the success of Tecmar has always been very important, and it is with complete confidence that I hand over the company to my son. His desire to continue with the same values that inspired me is a source of satisfaction and an assurance for our partners that their future collaborations will be successful.”
