The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) has sold the Northwest Sportshow in Minneapolis to Marketplace Events (MPE), North America’s largest business-to-consumer show producer.

NMMA — a trade association representing boat, marine engine and accessory manufacturers in North America — says the sale aligns with its strategy to expand its Discover Boating portfolio in other markets while maintaining a presence in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota with the Discover Boating Minneapolis Boat Show.

Marketplace Events, known for producing a range of consumer shows, including two longstanding home shows in the Twin Cities, has focused on acquiring events in the sport and outdoor sector. The Northwest Sportshow marks the 19th event acquired in this category by MPE since March 25, bringing their portfolio to a total of 114 events. This includes 68 home shows, 19 sport/outdoor shows, 16 holiday shows and 11 trade events.

Darren Envall, vice president of Midwest Shows for NMMA, adds: “Marketplace Events has a long track record of producing quality consumer events, and with its expansion into the outdoors sector and experience in the Minneapolis market, will continue to produce a successful Northwest Sportshow for visitors and exhibitors.

“NMMA remains committed to the Twin Cities market with a focus on the Discover Boating Minneapolis Boat Show, which closely precedes the sportshow, and we will continue to explore opportunities to strategically broaden the Discover Boating boat show portfolio in other markets to further engage target audiences.”

The 2025 Northwest Sportshow will take place from 13-16 March at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Veteran show managers Bruce Evans and Dan DeJaeger, both Minneapolis locals with extensive experience in event production and marketing, will lead the show.
