Ocean Safety partners with The Famous Project
Marine safety specialist, Ocean Safety has announced it has joined forces with The Famous Project as its official safety partner as the all-female team launches its campaign to take on the Jules Verne Trophy.
Ocean Safety says the partnership demonstrates its ongoing commitment to offshore and round the world yacht racing. It will be equipping the team and its two yachts, the MOD 70 and the Ultime – Idec Sport, with Ocean ISO Ultralite liferafts, Ocean Safety Sport Pro 170N ADV lifejackets with Ocean Signal MOB1, and a selection of man overboard recovery equipment from its Jon Buoy range.
Ocean Safety’s team of marine safety experts will also be available throughout the three-year campaign to offer advice and support to the seven-strong crew, one of which is Ocean Safety ambassador and record-breaking British sailor, Dee Caffari MBE.
“I am proud to be an ambassador for Ocean Safety, where I have been working with the team on the development of safety equipment and education for the end users,” says Caffari.
“When I am offshore, I am aware that having trust in your safety equipment is of paramount importance and this is why I am delighted to have such an established brand onboard The Famous Project as official safety partner. This will give us the confidence to push hard and achieve great things.”
Bringing together an exceptional crew of seven extremely accomplished female sailors, The Famous Project has one objective: to break the record and establish a female reference time for the prestigious Jules Verne Trophy.
Alistair Hackett, Ocean Safety’s managing director, comments: “We are delighted to partnering with The Famous Project as it takes on the non-stop circumnavigation of the Jules Verne Trophy, promoting women in sailing and inspiring the next generation of female sailors as it goes.
“We’re committed to developing the most innovative and effective safety equipment for the sailing community, so those onboard can feel safe and secure even in the most challenging of environments. The fact that such a phenomenal sailing team has chosen Ocean Safety as its official safety partner, as it embarks on such an epic mission, endorses the valuable work that we do and highlights the quality of the equipment we produce.
“We look forward to working with the team over the next three years and following their journey around the world.”
The Famous Project has a packed programme of record attempts and races onboard both the training trimaran MOD70, and the maxi-trimaran Ultime – Idec Sport, which will carry the international crew around the world on its record-breaking attempt, which starts in October 2025.

Alexia Barrier, The Famous Project Skipper, adds: “Embracing the vast expanse of the ocean is a testament to the power of adventure and the importance of safety. As a sailor and ambassador for Ocean Safety, I’ve learned that the true beauty of the sea lies in the confidence that we sail knowing we’re equipped with the finest tools to conquer its challenges and respect its majesty.”
Last week at METSTRADE (15 November 2023), Ocean Safety unveiled a new brand identity, which it says represents its commitment to ensuring its brand identity reflects the high quality of its extensive portfolio of innovative lifesaving equipment.
