Over 1,000 brands confirmed for 63rd Genoa show
Organisers of the Genoa International Boat Show have confirmed the upcoming 63rd edition will have 1,043 brands on display, an increase of 4.5 per cent on 2022.
Over 1,000 boats – measuring from 2-40 metres in length — are going on display this year at Italy’s premier boat show, with 143 additional berths thanks to the opening of the waterfront’s brand-new canals. In total, 184 new products will be showcased for the first time (an increase of 9.5 per cent compared to 2022).
The Genoa International Boat Show this year is organised by the Italian Marine Industry Association Confindustria Nautica and its operational subsidiary I Saloni Nautici. The organisers spoke to media gathered in Genoa during a presentation yesterday (5 September 2023) in anticipation of the show, which runs from 21-26 September 2023 in Piazzale Kennedy 1.
“This is an event that has always interpreted and represented the yachting industry as a whole, which continues to grow,” Saverio Cecchi, president of the Italian Marine Industry Association told media. “Forecasts predict the sector’s turnover to exceed 7 billion euros and exports to generate record numbers.”
Official data will be provided on 21 September 2023, when the latest edition of the market analysis book Nautica in Cifre LOG, produced by the Italian Marine Industry Association’s Research and Market Intelligence department in cooperation with the Edison Foundation, will be presented.
“We are all obviously keen to hear these figures,” continued Cecchi, “but let’s remember that they represent a single frame of a film that tells a story of Italian success.” He added: “With the completion of the waterfront redevelopment plan, of which we can already see the first important results this year, the Genoa Boat Show will become a truly global platform for business development across the sector and everything that revolves around it, a unique location in the world”.
The futuristic Waterfront di Levante redevelopment is a mixed-use project by renowned architect Renzo Piano that provides a new view over the sea, with new public and private urban and port functions.
The doors of the 63rd Genoa International Boat Show will open on Thursday 21 September 2023, with the inaugural conference “Industria nautica. La storia del future” (“The yachting industry, the history behind the future”), which will feature a line up of guest speakers including Italian Minister for Infrastructures and Transport, Matteo Salvini; Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso; and ENI President Giuseppe Zafarana.
The Genoa International Boat Show will also provide visibility to the best and most innovative international yachting products with the fourth edition of the Design Innovation Awards, the international jury of which is chaired this year by Maria Porro, president of the Salone del Mobile (the Milan Furniture Show).
