Saxdor Yachts expands production and launches digital app
Saxdor Yachts announced significant growth and new initiatives at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2024. Since its inception in 2019, the Finnish boatbuilder has demonstrated continued progress, producing over 2,000 boats, with current annual production ranging from 600 to 800 units.
The company’s growth is evident in its expanded workforce, now totalling 600 employees, and its increased production capacity. Saxdor operates across a production area of 14,000 square metres in three locations, supported by a global dealership network comprising 150 points of sale. Earlier this year, the boatbuilder said it expects to reach €100m in revenue, with predictions revealed during the Cannes Yachting Festival for 2026 to reach €200m.
To meet escalating demand, Saxdor Yachts has implemented strategic expansion measures. This August, the builder opened a new shipyard in Larsmo, Finland, dedicated to manufacturing larger models. While the total volume is to be established, the first boats are already progressing through construction. Additionally, Saxdor has partnered with TechnoLab to produce smaller boats, including the popular 200 series, allowing for increased output while maintaining standards.
While Saxdor initially gained traction with entry-level models like the 200, 205, and 270, the builder is now broadening its focus. By offering larger vessels, Saxdor aims to cater to customers looking to upgrade their experience, positioning itself as a go-to brand for seasoned boaters as well as newcomers.
In a technological advancement, Simon Claxton, EMEA sales director at Navico Group, introduced the MySaxdor app at the Cannes Yachting Festival, marking Saxdor’s entry into digital boating solutions. The new application offers various features designed to enhance the ownership experience. Users can now access an interactive logbook, track their trips, and quickly retrieve essential manuals and maintenance guides. For boats equipped with the Saxdor Connect hub, the app provides real-time notifications on the boat’s status and enables remote control of lighting and appliances. Daniel Scharf, chief product officer at Saxdor Yachts, presented the app’s integration features on the Saxdor 340 GTWA, the yard’s latest debut.
The MySaxdor app will launch for iOS in October, initially available in the US and select European countries. Shortly after, an Android version and expansion to additional regions where Saxdor operates will follow. The company plans to make the app standard on larger models and optional on smaller ones from Q4 2024, with the Saxdor Connect hub integration starting later this year. Existing Saxdor owners haven’t been overlooked; they will have access to a light version of the app through the Mercury Vessel-view Mobile interface.
Looking ahead, the boatbuilder is aiming to launch the Saxdor 460 in 2025, as well as production in Finland to further increase volume of the bigger models and digitalisation continuing to be a focus area. This insight into Saxdor Yacht’s growth trajectory comes shortly after Saxdor Yachts appointed Keith Miller as the new vice president of North American sales.
