Slam sailing returns to UK market offering crew wear
Clothing and accessories brand Slam has returned to the UK market. The sailing wear company was founded in 1979 in Genoa and its official representative in the UK is now Motion Sports. The brand designs for Emirates Team New Zealand and says its collection encapsulates cutting-edge design and exceptional performance in every role, from sailing to ground support and engineering.
Now Slam’s range of crew wear will be available in a select number of retailers throughout the UK.
“We are thrilled to be back in the UK market after several years of absence and to have found such a strong partner in Motion Sports,” says Marco Perazzo, Slam’s global sales director. “They are a perfect fit for our brand relaunch, and their youthful energy, technical expertise, and deep knowledge of the sailing market will ensure great success.
“The timing of this partnership is also excellent, as we have gained a significant share in the crew supplier market over the past two years. Additionally, we are launching an exciting new design project for spring/summer 2025 to finalise the rebranding process that began last year.”
Motion Sports’ Tom Peek says he, and fellow director Tom Bowker, have been working with Perazzo and his team over the past year to ensure a successful launch back into the UK.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Slam to the Motion Sports marine and watersports brand portfolio. With the support of the Slam team, we are focussed on delivering a successful relaunch to the UK market working with key retail partners and select crew and branding companies. We are thrilled to announce that Slam will be represented at Southampton International Boat Show at both Youboat and Andark alongside Crewsaver, another Motion Sports brand.
“As part of the relaunch of Slam to the UK, we are delighted to announce the opening of the Slam UK showroom in Southampton on the 12 August. The new Spring/Summer 2025 collection will be showcased including the new foil and one-design range, alongside the Altura and Crew collection. These new collections signify the exciting new direction of Slam.”
As a technical sailing brand, Slam says it conceives of effective solutions to implement eco-design principles using recycled raw materials. As such, 32 per cent of its clothing collection is made from natural fibres and the remaining 68 per cent from synthetic fibres such as nylon and polyester. Find out more on Slam’s website.
