Vetus returns to METSTRADE in November

Vetus, a Dutch developer of complete boat systems, is preparing for a new phase of expansion, increased investment in innovation, and product development in 2025, with its relocation to a purpose-built headquarters in Schiedam, Netherlands, this December.

The firm broke ground on the 9,500sqm site, located in the Dutch city of Schiedam, in December 2023.

Following the company’s 60th anniversary celebrations this year, Vetus says it plans to leverage the benefits of its new facility, which houses office, commercial and test areas, to improve operational efficiency and improve employee experience.

“The new building and our innovations will bring significant benefits, enhancing efficiency, boosting employee satisfaction even further and positioning us closer to our end customers,” says CEO Marcel Borsboom.

Borsboom says that Vetus is in the “strongest position in its history”, marking its growth from a small wholesale operation in 1964 to a key player in global marine products for boatbuilders and boaters.

The new HQ building is designed to double warehouse capacity, supporting efficient storage, processing, and shipping of products. The site also includes dedicated spaces to showcase products and conduct in-water testing with Vetus demo boats.

The building features a rooftop solar panel array to generate a portion of its own energy, while additional power is supplied by wind and hydro energy sources, aiming for a carbon-neutral footprint.

Notable Vetus partnerships to date include Mercury Marine for its Mercury Joystick Piloting for Outboards (JPO) and Yamaha, enabling compatibility between the Bow Pro thruster range and the Helm Master EX control system.

Vetus’ 60th anniversary year has also seen continued expansion of partnerships and integrations aimed at broadening the reach of its technology. This year, Vetus also partnered with Honda Marine and Ultraflex to integrate engine, steering, and Bow Pro thruster controls through a joystick interface.
