Video: Boat carrying football fans gets stuck under London bridge
Footage captured by passersby shows the moment a boat full of football fans became wedged under London’s Hammersmith Bridge as it attempted to pass beneath it.
The small ferry was taking West Ham fans to a match against Fulham when it struck Hammersmith Bridge on Sunday 10 December 2023.

Hammersmith Bridge is a suspension bridge crossing the River Thames. The bridge has been closed to vehicular traffic since 2020 after small fractures were spotted in the 136-year-old structure. Pedestrians can still use the bridge.
The Port of London Authority is investigating the incident, and has confirmed no reports of injuries. The vessel, MV Emerald of London, suffered minor damage.

The accident is reminiscent of one in January, when a 43-metre superyacht collided with the operator booth at the Simpson Bay bridge on the Caribbean island of St Maarten — just three years since a similar incident occurred in the same location.
