World Boating Day returns in May 2025
The third edition of World Boating Day, an international open day for the leisure boating industry, will take place on 24 May 2025.
The Superyacht Life Foundation is coordinating the initiative, which celebrated its inaugural edition from 25 to 26 May 2024 with 46 events in nine countries. More than 37 industry organisations have already shown their support for the 2025 event, with six country-specific ambassadors helping with promotion.
The three focus areas of the World Boating Day initiative have been developed in collaboration with key stakeholders and industry associations, including businesses, foundations and yacht crew. These are:
Attracting talent: This pillar aims to highlight career opportunities within the industry, from technical craftsmanship to operational roles on board. In 2024, initiatives included an open day at Bilgin Yachts for technical university students, training facility visits organised by Navigo Toscana and Italian Superyacht Life, and an educational seminar hosted by MisliMore on entering the industry as a crew member.
Creating media value: The event seeks to present a broader narrative about the boating industry, covering its economic contributions, sustainability efforts and the people working within it. In 2024, the Superyacht Life Foundation’s digital campaign reached approximately 14m users through social media, with press releases generating over 80 articles across 12 countries. Participating companies also distributed press materials, contributing to international media coverage.
Expanding the boating community: This pillar encourages accessibility and engagement with the industry, aiming to make leisure boating more inclusive. In 2024, activities included yard visits with Benetti in Italy, factory tours at Riviera in Australia, yacht design workshops with Feadship in the Netherlands, test drives with Freedom Boat Club in Sydney Harbour, and marina events featuring diving lessons and nautical knot workshops at West Istanbul Marina.
Registration is open to businesses, organisations, yachts and crew members. Interested participants can complete the registration form, after which a community manager will provide further details and promotional materials. Existing events scheduled between 19-25 May 2025 can also be added to the campaign map.
